Could Jason West’s Ventum Tempus Lift Him to New Heights in Nice?

Jason West is riding a new Ventum Tempus for Nice

Jason West just recently spent some time with our very own Mat Steinmetz to move from a medium Ventum TEMPUS to a Small. After riding it over that last couple of weeks, he feels like he has made the right choice .

West needed to go up 30 mm on the Profile Design cockpit. This still allowed him to be more aero.

It’s all about weight for this course. So the Garmin Edge 130 gives Jason the power, speed data he needs and only weighs 33 grams.

West is one of the few Ventum athletes riding with the stock base and aero bars. They just work for him, he says.

Since all of his bottle cages broke in the first 30 miles of Lake Placid, West has chosen to make sure he has extra GOODLIFE nutrition on board. He said he is excited to see what he could do here in Nice with all his calories.

His third bottle is the Profile Design Aero bottle

A Continental 26 mm Aero tire sits on the Swiss SideHadron² 800 front wheel

In the back, he has a 28mm Grand Prix 5000 TT tire on the HADRON² Ultimate Rear Disc. When asked why he went with two different tires he said he wanted to emphasize aerodynamics in the front and rolling resistance in the back.

West switched to a smaller crank as well – Going from a 165 mm to a 160 mm

56/43T is West’s gear of choice for the chainrings

West is a big fan of the SpeedPlay pedals – riding the Wahoo SpeedPlay as part of his Garmin contract.

Finally, West has a Wove Mags 8 saddle with a single TriRig bottle mount in the rear.

Not counting bottles Jason’s bike weights in under 16 lbs. His power to weight ratio is going to serve him well on this course.

Be honest: do you know how to change a flat on your bike?

If given the choice, you prefer to ride a wheel that is:

Do you believe that hookless wheels are unsafe, or simply not for you?
