2015 Outdoor Retailer trade show

Slowtwitch attended the Outdoor Retailer trade show in downtown Salt Lake City and came back with photos of a mixed bag of personalities and products.

A T-shirt company with a bearded man icon – a popular trend.

Osprey made sure retailers didn’t walk the floors on empty bellies.

The Osprey booth display was a cutaway of their seats and cabin.

Inspired by a Slowtwitch article, Altra was excited to show us their casual work line.

Altra founder Golden Harper ran his first marathon at age 10 and was a 2-time Utah high school cross-country state champion. Here he shows two Altra models popular with triathletes.

This was the only road bike we saw at the show and it belonged to Ryan Barnett of Louis Garneau, a former domestic pro cyclist.

Pitchin’ Power was one of many contests of skill to lure in prospective retailers.

Dogs weren’t the only creatures in the halls of the Salt Palace.

Many companies threw happy hours starting as early as 3 PM, including Stanley, who also offered a string band.

The Red Iguana was a popular dining spot in Salt Lake City for Outdoor Retailer participants. At night, a line forms far out the door as seating is limited. Less than half a mile away is Red Iguana 2, which offers the same menu but a larger seating area.

Since 2013, the TRAX light rail has three lines serving Salt Lake County, including one line between the airport and downtown. This made travel cost-effective and hassle-free.
