IRONMAN Pro Series Coming to ESPN and Disney+

Triathlon is coming back to ESPN in some key markets, as IRONMAN Pro Series events will now broadcast on ESPN’s digital platforms, starting with this weekend’s IRONMAN Cairns.
Disney+ subscribers in over 40 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean will be able to watch Pro Series events live. The agreement includes live coverage of the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship events.
“We’re delighted to announce this exciting broadcast partnership with ESPN for viewers in Latin America and the Caribbean. We currently have 24 IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon races in the region, and we hope that this collaboration not only helps bring the drama and excitement of the IRONMAN Pro Series to a new and growing fan base, but may also inspire them to take on the challenge of their life as well,” said Yanni Andreopoulos, Executive Vice President, Global Partnerships for The IRONMAN Group.
Viewers in North America will continue to watch via Outside’s platform, whereas in other markets races remain viewable on IRONMAN’s YouTube channel.
What a tease of an announcement.
But I imagine (and hope) this is step one of getting away from Outside.
