Slowtwitch Privacy Policy

Last Updated: 7.31.2026

Slowtwitch LLC (“Slowtwitch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use slowtwitch.com, forum.slowtwitch.com, shop.slowtwitch.com, and any related services, newsletters, or applications that link to this policy (together, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. This policy does not constitute legal advice; if you have questions about your specific rights, please consult a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

We collect information you choose to give us, including when you:

  • Create an account on slowtwitch.com, the Forum, or the Shop
  • Post, comment, or message other members on the Forum
  • Subscribe to Slowtwitch+ or the Slowtwitch Weekly newsletter
  • Make a purchase through shop.slowtwitch.com
  • Submit a classifieds listing or a listing to our coach/event directories
  • Contact us for support, submit a contributor pitch, or otherwise correspond with us
  • Enter a contest, survey, or promotion

This may include your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, username, password, profile photo, forum post history, athletic or event information you choose to share (e.g., race results, equipment used), and any content you post publicly on the Forum or in the classifieds.

Information Related to Purchases

When you buy something through shop.slowtwitch.com, our payment processor collects your payment card details directly. Slowtwitch does not store full payment card numbers. We may retain your billing name, shipping address, order history, and the last four digits of your card for order fulfillment, customer service, and fraud prevention.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit slowtwitch.com, the Forum, or the Shop, we and our service providers may automatically collect:

  • Device information: IP address, browser type, device type, operating system
  • Usage information: pages viewed, time on site, referring/exit pages, links clicked, and similar site-usage data across our domains
  • Email engagement: whether you open, click, or forward our newsletter (Slowtwitch Weekly) and related email communications
  • Approximate location: general location inferred from your IP address

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our Services, including tracking activity across slowtwitch.com, forum.slowtwitch.com, and shop.slowtwitch.com as part of a single, cross-domain view of a visitor’s journey. You can learn more about how Google handles this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you may opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, measure site performance, and — where you consent — support advertising. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie preference tool available in the footer of our sites, or through your browser settings.

Information From Third Parties

We may receive information about you from:

  • Payment processors, in connection with purchases

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain slowtwitch.com, the Forum, and the Shop
  • Process orders, payments, shipping, and returns
  • Manage your account, Slowtwitch+ subscription, and forum profile
  • Send the Slowtwitch Weekly newsletter and other communications you’ve signed up for
  • Respond to customer support requests and inquiries
  • Personalize content, maintain and moderate the Forum community, and display your public posts, comments, and classifieds listings
  • Understand site usage and improve our editorial content, Shop, and Forum experience
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our User Agreement
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights
  • Serve advertising, including through Google Analytics/Ads and any third-party ad networks we work with

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for money. We may share personal information with:

  • Service providers who help us run our business — e.g., hosting and infrastructure providers, our email/newsletter platform (Listmonk/Postmark), payment processors, and forum software providers. These providers are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
  • Other users and the public — content you post publicly on the Forum, in comments, or in classifieds listings is visible to other users and the public, including your username, post history, and any profile information you choose to display.
  • Advertising and analytics partners — such as Google Analytics, to help us understand site usage and, where applicable, deliver relevant advertising. Under some state privacy laws, sharing data with advertising partners in this way may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, even though we don’t sell data for money. You can opt out as described in Section 5 below.
  • Legal and safety purposes — to comply with the law, respond to legal process, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Slowtwitch, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers — if Slowtwitch is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Forum posts and public content may remain visible indefinitely as part of the community record, even after an account is closed, unless you request removal and we are able to accommodate that request.

5. Your Choices and Rights

Marketing Communications

You can unsubscribe from the Slowtwitch Weekly newsletter or other marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us at the email below. You’ll still receive transactional messages related to your account or orders.

Cookies and Interest-Based Advertising

You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie tool in our site footer, or opt out of interest-based advertising generally via the DAA WebChoices tool or the NAI Consumer Opt-Out.

State Privacy Rights (U.S.)

If you are a resident of a state with a comprehensive privacy law (including Utah, California, Colorado, Connecticut, and others), you may have the right to:

  • Confirm whether we process your personal information, and access that information
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, or its use for targeted advertising
  • Appeal a decision if we decline to act on your request

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@slowtwitch.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

If you enable a recognized opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC), we will treat that signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale/sharing of your personal information, where required by law.

Do Not Track

Our Services do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. Please use the cookie and advertising opt-out tools described above to manage tracking preferences.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16, where required by applicable law). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email below and we will take steps to delete it.

7. Third-Party Links

Our Services, including Forum posts and classifieds listings, may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Visitors

Slowtwitch is based in the United States, and information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If we make material changes, we will provide notice, such as posting a notice on our site or sending an email.
