Gabrielle Lumkes is Ready to Tackle Kona with Her Ceepo Viper

American Gabrielle Lumkes has arrived on Hawaii’s Big Island after a solid debut season of full-distance racing. She kicked off the year with a stellar performance at the first IRONMAN of her career in New Zealand in March, finishing fourth. She stuck around Oceania to race 70.3 Geelong in Australia, where she was sixth.

She recorded a DNF in Cairns in June, but rebounded well with a 12th-place finish at IRONMAN Lake Placid a month later. Finally, she made it onto the podium at 70.3 Louisville in August, giving her great momentum as she worked toward Kona.

This is the first time Lumkes will be racing on the Big Island, and she is poised and ready to go for a fast intro to IRONMAN World Championship racing. To do so, she will be riding her Ceepo Viper — a ride she shared with Slowtwitch. Here’s a look at the bike with everything Lumkes will be riding on Saturday in Kona. – Ben Snider-McGrath

Be honest: do you know how to change a flat on your bike?

If given the choice, you prefer to ride a wheel that is:

Do you believe that hookless wheels are unsafe, or simply not for you?
