Canyon Wins the Men’s 2025 IRONMAN World Championship Bike Count

The 2025 industry bike count, presented by our friends at Quintana Roo, is now over. For the third year running, Canyon has taken the top spot in the counts, with a commanding 100+ bike margin over second-place Cervelo. Trek was not far behind in third, with nearly 350 bikes, with Specialized and Quintana Roo rounding out the top five.

Here’s the counts across all of the various categories. Many thanks to our team here on site who help make this count possible.

Aerobars: It’s Profile Designs World

Even as things like mono-bars and large “integrated” fairing / not a fairing extensions become more prevalent, most athletes still trust Profile Designs for their front ends.

Shimano continues to dominate the drivetrain count, with nearly 70% of the field riding a Shimano system.

Hydration Systems: Profile and XLab Lead

It’s more dependent on where you place a hydration system (or systems, if you ride with both the front and rear). Profile Design takes the lead position with front-mounted systems, whereas athletes trust X-Lab more frequently out back. There are slightly more total rear systems than there are front ones.

Pedals: Shimano Still Leads, But Look and Assioma Aren’t Far Behind

This is one of the tightest categories for components, with the top three brands all spread by a count of 175 units.

Perhaps in a shocker, DT Swiss took a resounding count victory here in Nice, with 105 more wheels than Zipp. Those two brands combined for over half of the total wheel sets that we counted here.

  1. I am guessing that this count excludes the rentals from FBR since Lapierre isn’t in the count and that was one of the two models they are providing (I think the other is Scott).

  2. Great coverage! Appreciation for all those who did the count. And wow, DT Swiss! I remember when Zipp dominated.

  3. Can’t believe there were no Citec discs: were only the frontwheels counted?

  4. Nope, both front and rear were counted.

We have some additional insights to post on this – namely, just how few people ran discs, period.

Be honest: do you know how to change a flat on your bike?

If given the choice, you prefer to ride a wheel that is:

Do you believe that hookless wheels are unsafe, or simply not for you?
