We Noticed: IRONMAN Partners with Salomon, New Pro Series Races and Wyn Republic Drops Latest Tri-Suit

The IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship weekend is just days away, but there is much more happening this week in Nice, France, than just racing. On Wednesday, IRONMAN announced the schedule for the 2027 IRONMAN Pro Series, which will feature multiple new races across the globe. Retired pro triathlete Luke McKenzie had a launch in Nice for his company, Wyn Republic, as the brand dropped its latest tri-suit. Finally, on Thursday, IRONMAN made an even bigger announcement, partnering with the French sports lifestyle company Salomon.

IRONMAN Teams Up with Salomon

The partnership between IRONMAN and Salomon will officially commence in 2027, with the brand becoming the title sponsor of multiple IRONMAN and 70.3 races around the world. Included in the list of events that Salomon will title are a number of the most popular races on the IRONMAN circuit, including 70.3 Oceanside, IRONMAN Lanzarote, the IRONMAN North American Championship and, most notably, the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

The partnership is a five-year commitment to the two brands working together to expand their communities and grow the sport of triathlon. Present in Nice to make the announcement were IRONMAN CEO Scott DeRue and Salomon president Guillaume Meyzenq.

“Athletes no longer define themselves by one sport,” Meyzenq said in a press release from IRONMAN. “They run on the road, compete in the mountains, take on triathlons and continually seek new ways to challenge themselves. Endurance has become a lifestyle. For Salomon, joining forces with IRONMAN is a natural step and an opportunity to bring our performance expertise to one of the world’s most committed endurance communities.”

DeRue echoed Meyzenq’s excitement for the partnership, saying, “IRONMAN and Salomon are united in the belief that endurance sports unlock human potential. […] We look forward to working together to enhance the athlete experience across our community.”

Same Series, New Races

Just like in 2025, the IRONMAN Pro Series will feature 16 events. Six will be full IRONMAN races, with the other 10 being 70.3s, all culminating in Kona at the IRONMAN World Championship in October.

After a season of being the presenting sponsor of the series, Oman will get its shot at hosting on of the 16 races next year. IRONMAN 70.3 Muscat — the Middle East Championship — is slated to kick off the 2027 series on Feb. 6. The next new race on the Pro Series calendar is 70.3 Valencia in Spain on April 18, followed by another Spanish event a month later at the storied IRONMAN Lanzarote.

June will feature a pair of new additions to the series in 70.3 Tours Métropole in France on June 7 and 70.3 Mont-Tremblant in Canada a few weeks later on June 21. Sweden will get another Pro Series race (IRONMAN Kalmar was included this year, although it isn’t on the list for 2027) with 70.3 Jönköping on July 11. Finally, the last new race in the series will be 70.3 Leipzig in Germany on Aug. 8.

That makes seven new races on the IRONMAN Pro Series schedule, with nine returning for another year. The full press release from IRONMAN on the changes can be read here.

Wyn Republic’s Latest Suit

Wyn Republic is one of the top suit designers in the sport of triathlon, and they have a new one on the way — the CdA Evo. The Wyn team worked with some of the world’s top athletes — including Hayden Wilde, Kat Matthews and Jamie Riddle, all of whom are racing in Nice this weekend — to develop the suit and get it dialled to where it will not only help the best of the best, but everyone else racing in it, too.

In addition to Wilde, Matthews and Riddle, Wyn Republic has 10 more pros racing in Nice, and all 13 of them will be wearing the CdA Evo to battle for a world title. The Wyn team has been testing the CdA Evo for a long time, and not only in the wind tunnel (they went to both Silverstone in the U.K. and SASI in Adelaide, Australia) — Wyn pros wore prototypes in real race settings. The results? More than 10 major long-distance wins, course records, fastest bike splits and a Kona podium.

“Prototype and production decisions were pressure-tested through racing by world-class triathletes, closing the loop between tunnel data, comfort, handling and performance over long-course distances,” reads the company’s press release.

After extensive testing, the data showed that athletes can save a staggering 55 to 77 seconds over a 56-mile ride (the distance of the bike leg in a 70.3). Over 112 miles (IRONMAN distance), those savings jump to 110 to 154 seconds. These is remarkable numbers, and they could be the difference between hitting a PR and not or reaching the podium and finishing just off of it.

How did they get this suit to be so fast? One factor is Wyn’s new Warp Speed Fabric. This is an “ultra-lightweight performance textile,” according to the company. The suit has “textured trip-line zones to influence airflow over the thighs.”

The CdA Evo is available in limited supply in Nice this week, but it will be up on the Wyn Republic website as of Oct. 6, the same day as the IRONMAN World Championship.
