Brendan (Trekky) Johnston’s Giant Revolt is Ready for Gravel Worlds!

Photos: Kevin Mackinnon

We won’t ask why his nickname is “Trekky,” but regardless of the nickname, Brendan Johnston will be hammering away at tomorrow’s Gravel Worlds 150-mile race on his Giant Revolt, along with the rest of the stacked field that’s gunning after their share of the $100,000 prize purse. We caught up with the Aussie star to check out his Giant Revolt and the gear he’s got on it for tomorrow’s race.

Johnston has added a top tube bag to the “standard set up,” as he did for Unbound earlier this year.

The Cadex 50 Ultra wheels have Kenda 45 mm Kenda Crusher tires rather than the 2.2 MTB tires he used at Unbound.

The SRAM Red 1X drive train features a 52-tooth front with a 10-52 cassette. The Time XPRO 12 SL pedals are “super light,” Johnston says. Any mud, though, and he’ll go back to the MTB version. Power is measured through the SRAM crank.

Two huge water bottles will help him stay hydrated and fuelled during tomorrow’s race.

There’s a one-piece aero bar (38 mm wide at the top, 40 mm wide at the drops) and 110-mm stem from Cadex to go along with the Wahoo ELMNT Roam computer.

If given the choice, you prefer to ride a wheel that is:

Do you believe that hookless wheels are unsafe, or simply not for you?
