Canyon, DT Swiss, and Shimano Take Emphatic Wins in the 2026 Kona Bike Count

You can bring all of the IRONMAN World Championship back together in one place, but the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Canyon has once again taken the top spot in the 2026 Kona Bike Count, with over a fifth of this year’s field riding aboard the direct-to-consumer brand. Cervelo finished in second place, but with Trek gaining ground in third place. Quintana Roo and Specialized rounded out your top five bike brands.

On the wheel count, it’s once again DT Swiss lapping the field in counts. It, like Canyon (which DT Swiss is an OEM supplier for) had a commanding lead over second place Zipp. HED was the third highest single individual brand represented.

Shimano had outstanding performance in the crank, drivetrain, and pedal counts, leading in all three of those categories.

We will further break down the counts and trends over the past couple of years later this weekend, but for now, here are the results.

  1. I had a Taiwanese athlete on a complete culprit cockpit, stem , base bar and full arm aerobars. Is my black on black branding too discreet?

  2. You probably know you’ve answered your own question.

  3. I just checked profile website and theirs are similar. So as I new brand I should blast logos? I’d prefer to match bikes rather than blast a huge logo as my competitors are doing.

  4. You can do that and ignore the bike count. ST bike count isn’t going to make any marketing difference.

Why do you even bother to ask?
I have at least 3 of my bikes there, so they are categorized as being ‘others’ and others that have just 1 are being brand-named, it also means we have 6 wheels, etc.
Do really think I give a shit if we are mentioned as a brand or not?

I don’t even think either it is done on purpose. That counting stuff must one hell of a task, even with enough people it would be so easy to miss a bike, a bar, a power meter and if you are not a well known brand yet it is easy being overlooked.

And if we are passed on purpose, i still don’t give a shit but i really think people are underestimating how difficult to do that count is.

Look, as example, to the aerobar count. It reads Cervelo 50 pcs, but Cervelo didn’t have an aerobar apart from their default ski bend extensions they provided with the P5. Until they recently released this new one but that one isn’t or just commercially available. Or their aerobar left my brain completely………
On all other bikes the aerobar extensions it are zipps, visions, profile designs or 3t’s. Unless there are 50 people riding the P5 with their old EX11 TT cockpit, which i hardly can see as being done, or with the default ski bend extensions but i don’t even think or remember them being branded, just gloss black.

We literally changed almost all aerobars to a different brand on each of those bikes, P5, PX, P3X, etc.

But, again, i think those parts with black on black logo’s are so easy to miss.
