General Information
Registration fees included or disclosed up front?: Yes, all registration/convenience fees are included in price or disclosed up front. Course Info: The race is actually in 3 spots. Registration and finish line are located in front of the police, fire and city building on W. Lake St. The start of the event is behind the buildings at the beach in the marina next to the break wall. The Transition Area is located in Downtown Petoskey, about 400m away on Bay St.
The entire swim course is protected by the breakwall and takes place inside the marina. This means no matter how rough the water is in the bay, we swim in smooth, calm water protected by the breakwall. Some participants in the past have seen 4+ foot high waves on the other side of the breakwall, while we swam on flat calm water. The bike is one of our favorites - it is hilly to rolling, but what goes up must come down and that is truly a fun ride. Tuck and go baby! If a lot of hills is not to your liking, the sprint race is perfect.
You can see from the past year?s bike times the course is not difficult. It is beautiful scenery though, and the run course ranks up there too - also one of our favorites! Running along the bay, then along the Bear River is exhilarating before a very fast downhill finish that starts about a mile back on the Bear River service road.
More: This event continues to be one of Michigan?s most beautiful venues and courses. We have been in the beautiful city of Petoskey for close to 10 years now. Petoskey is another one of Michigan?s top tourist destinations, with absolutely everything you could possibly want to do on a family vacation right at your fingertips.
The event is right downtown, with the swim in a marina that is protected by a seawall. The transition area is on the closed Bay Street, overlooking the marina and the scenic bay. An incredible bike course takes you through the streets of Petoskey and past the high school before you head out on rolling country roads through rural Petoskey, then a ?rest your legs? one mile descent back down to Bay St.
Then to top it off, a run that is second to none, where you start off passing the marina, following the bayside paved trail out and back, then up past the finish line to the Bear River Park paved trail, finishing with a super-fast 1 mile downhill to the finish located right across the street from the marina, city building, fire department and next to the Bear River. Just Awesome!
This year we add the kayak and stand up paddle board division for those who don?t want to swim. There?s something for everyone!
