Me the CoachI have been lucky to be around some very good athletes and coaches:
And training partners I've had in the past, like Lance Armstrong, Hirome Taniguchi, Jurgen Zack, And Spencer Smith. I've learned a lot from them, and from my own training. I've spent years learning, unfortunately, how not to train as well. I enjoy sharing my experiences with others who aspire to succeed in their given sport. If you feel like you need a coach who can work specifically with you, I would be happy to discuss this with you by email. If you'd like to know up-front how much I charge, I go over the particulars below. If an individualized program is not for you (or not yet for you), I might have some knowledge tht can help you anyway. If you're starting out in triathlon, you'll find some tips on this website, in Tech Center & Coach's Corner. JULIE FOR HIRE How it works with me as your coach I start by having you fill out a questionnaire (below) describing you as an athlete, and to some degree, as a person. You might not have considered some of these questions. but if you are thinking about getting your own coach, you are taking this sport seriously. That means races in September and October that affect the types of workouts you're doing the previous February and March. (my email) What it costs with me as your coach I charge $250 each month for triathletes, and $150 per month for single-sport athletes (usually runners). I charge you when you're actively training, not when you're not. If you take a month or two off each year, I don't charge you for those months. I don't charge you when you're injured. Basically, I charge you when you want to be coached, and I don't when you don't. However, I reserve the right to stop coaching you, and this would occur if and when it seems to me that you aren't getting anything out of my services. I'll coach you via email. I'll ask you lots of questions all the time, and I'll ask you to record your training. So it's good if you type fast. (my email) How you'll know if I'm the right coach for you I am not a motivational coach. I work well with athletes who already generate all the motivation they need, who have no trouble getting up in the morning to do the workout. I work best with athletes who have, or are willing to generate, a long term set of goals. If you do not want, or feel that you need, to set long term goals, but you want someone to help you on a daily or weekly basis, that is not my strength. Also, I will not take the place of a specific technique coach. For example, my first recommendation to you, if you are not an expert swimmer, is to find a good master's swim team, with a good master's coach. If you'd like to investigate further, I suggest you look at the questionnaire below that I would have any athlete of mine fill out. You'll see by the types of questions I ask what kinds of things I consider fair game to work on. You will undoubtedly have questions, which I invite you to ask. You should ask me for references, as well. Some of the athletes write about their experiences here. You can check out my race resume, PRs, education and related work experience here. (my email)
